About IMEI Check
Helping people buy used phones with confidence — one IMEI at a time.
Why we exist
Buying a used phone should not feel like a gamble. A quick IMEI check can reveal whether a device is genuine, carrier-locked, or reported lost or stolen — information that protects buyers from costly mistakes. We built IMEI Check to make that check instant, free for basic identification, and private by default.
What we do
- Device identification (free). Decode the TAC to reveal the exact brand, model and key specs of any device.
- Blacklist check. See whether a device has been reported lost or stolen and could be blocked by carriers.
- Carrier & SIM-lock. Find the original carrier and whether an iPhone is locked or factory unlocked.
- Developer API. Validate and enrich IMEIs at scale for marketplaces and repair services. Read the docs →
How our data works
Basic identification comes from the public TAC database, which maps the first eight digits of an IMEI to a model. Deep checks (blacklist, carrier, SIM-lock) are sourced from specialized third-party data providers. Every result clearly states its source and age so you can judge how much to rely on it.
Why people trust us
- Private by design. We do not store the IMEIs you look up. See our Privacy Policy.
- Fast. Most lookups return in seconds.
- Transparent. Clear pricing, no hidden fees, and plain-language results.
