IMEI Check for iPad and Tablet Devices

4 min read

Tablets like iPads and cellular Android tablets also carry IMEI numbers when they have a cellular radio. The same checks that protect phone buyers protect tablet buyers too.

Find the IMEI on a tablet

On iPad: Settings → General → About → IMEI. On Android tablets: Settings → About Tablet → Status. Cellular models will show an IMEI; Wi-Fi-only models will not.

What a tablet IMEI check shows

A check returns the model, whether the device is blacklisted, carrier lock status and warranty coverage when available. Use the Full IMEI Check for a combined report.

iPad Activation Lock

iPads use the same Activation Lock system as iPhones. If the previous owner did not sign out, the device is unusable. Confirm with the iCloud Activation Lock Check.

Wi-Fi only tablets: without a cellular IMEI, checks are limited to model and serial lookups. Verify the serial number with the Apple Warranty by Serial Check.

Bottom line

Cellular tablets should be checked the same way as phones. Get the IMEI, run a full report, and confirm the lock and warranty status.
