iPhone 12, 13 & 14 IMEI Check: What to Verify Before Buying

5 min read

iPhone 12, 13 and 14 models are common in the used market. They are solid phones, but used units often carry Activation Lock, carrier lock or unpaid-balance blacklists.

Activation Lock is still the biggest risk

An iCloud-locked iPhone 12/13/14 cannot be set up as a new device. Always run the iPhone Activation Lock Check before paying.

Carrier lock matters less, but still check

Many carrier-locked iPhones can now be unlocked after payoff, but not all. The iPhone Carrier & SIM-Lock Check tells you whether it is truly unlocked or still tied to a network.

Blacklist and remaining warranty

Run the GSMA Blacklist Check and the Apple Warranty by Serial Check. A clean blacklist and some warranty left make the deal safer.

Battery note: an IMEI check does not report battery health. Ask the seller for a screenshot of Settings → Battery → Battery Health & Charging.

Bottom line

iPhone 12/13/14 are excellent used buys, but only after you verify iCloud, lock and blacklist status with a live IMEI check.
